Head Coach Cory MillerCoach Miller has been coaching the swim & dive teams at Northfield since 2018. He has helped grow the programs from just a few swimmers to a competitive state program. The boys team enjoyed its first ever DPS City League Championship in 2023 and its highest finish at State with a 7th place finish. The girls team also had its highest finish at State in 2023 with a 13th place finish. Coach Miller earned DPS Coach of the Year awards for girls teams in 2020-2021 & 2022-2023 and for the boys team in 2023.
Coach Miller grew up in Littleton, Colorado and attended Arapahoe High School, where he qualified for state in every swimming event and finished 2nd at the 5A state meet in the 100 Backstroke and 200 Individual Medley. Coach Miller then attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison on a swimming scholarship. At Wisconsin, he set school records in the 100 and 200 Backstroke and was an Academic All-American all 4 years. Coach Miller has both Geological Engineering and Geology degrees from Wisconsin and went on to earn his Juris Doctorate from University of Colorado School of Law. He has been a Central Park resident since 2010 and is married to Birgit Roesink-Miller. He has two wonderful step-daughters who graduated from Northfield High School. |
Assistant Dive Coach Brian FerrellCoach Ferrell is originally from Kansas City, and has been living in Denver for the past 11 years. Growing up, he was very active in sports, eventually focusing on swimming and diving. He was a member of the CCSAKC (County Club Swim Association of Kansas City) for 14 years and later went on to be a head dive coach with the league at Blue Hills Country Club.
Coach Ferrell attended St. Thomas Aquinas in Overland Park, KS where he was a 4-year varsity letterman in both swimming and diving. He coached the varsity girls diving team as well. He studied at Kansas State University and continued to take part in intermural swimming through his fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Coach Ferrell has lived in Central Park for the past 3 years with his fiancé. He has a soon-to-be stepson named Aidan who will be joining Northfield in 2023. In his spare time, Coach Ferrell loves to travel, is in a bowling league, and tries to play golf as much as the weather allows. He is a diehard Kansas City Chiefs fan and a big plate of barbeque is the easiest way to make him your friend. |
Assistant Coach Olivia AllenCoach Allen played water polo in High School at Santa Monica High School and won the CIF state championship for the team in which she was the captain. While there, she was also the captain of the swim team during her Junior and senior year. Olivia attended the University of Redlands where she continued her water polo career while studying English Literature. After graduating she decided to continue her education by pursuing a Masters in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on culturally and linguistically diverse learners from the University of Denver.
Coach Allen is a 9th-grade English and Debate teacher at Northfield High School. Olivia began coaching youth water polo and swim in 2014 where she coached 4 teams to the Junior Olympics, 2 of which earned gold medals. While coaching at Westside Aquatics, Olivia worked with kids aged 10-18 but found the most joy working with high school-aged athletes. Coach Allen is passionate about increasing access to pool sports and is eager to help athletes grow their passion for the sport. Let’s go Nighthawks! |
